About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Plan and execute budgets and activities
  • Identify and engage donors interested in PAX’s focus areas and facilitate cooperative systems of mutual support
  • Manage identification of grantees and design grants for impact
  • Oversee execution and monitoring of grant agreements
  • Identify government, foundation, and private donors
  • Manage staff and contractors supporting applications and funder engagement
  • Develop strategy and track engagement with government officials and multilateral institutions in the United States and internationally
  • Build partnerships with private-sector institutions and industries
  • Support cross-functional organizational health, sustainability, growth, and planning efforts
  • Work with senior leaders to position the PAX sapiens DC office
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, staff, and contractors
  • Report to the COO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate degree in international relations, nonprofit management, or another relevant topic, or at least 10 years of experience in military, government, or organizational roles demonstrating equivalent skills and capacities
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in international relations or social impact work in the nonprofit sector, government, or private-sector government engagement roles
  • Expert-level familiarity with key donors, US government entities, and nonprofit organizations working in peacebuilding, crisis management, and negotiation
  • History of developing or managing a successful fundraising strategy for social-impact organizations
  • Deep knowledge of stakeholders working on conflict risk and risk reduction, including donors, government agencies, and international organizations, especially US, European, and East Asian actors
  • Understanding of strategic partnership building and ability to execute strategic, goal-oriented engagement through win-win partnerships
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively across cultures, time zones, and geographically distributed teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging, and mission-driven workplace culture
  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods
  • Able to bend at the waist and reach daily
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly
