About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own PayJoy's Unity Catalog governance model, including catalog and schema architecture, tagging and metadata standards, lineage, grants, and PII controls
Define and operate data trust standards, including tiered certification, service-level objectives, alert detection quality, and retirement of duplicate or abandoned models
Own the governed semantic layer and transformation development loop, including conformed dimensions, canonical entity keys, and unified definitions for cross-functionally consumed measures
Establish experimentation practices and own the measurement substrate, including experiment metric definitions, exposure tables, guardrail metrics, and readout correctness
Advise Product Engineering on tooling selection, statistical approach, and instrumentation architecture
Deliver scoped enablement projects whose primary output is a reusable pattern

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s in a related field or equivalent; Master’s a plus
10+ years of experience
Deep data governance expertise on a modern lakehouse e.g. Unity Catalog or equivalent at multi-catalog scale: schema architecture, metadata and tagging strategy, lineage, grants, row- and column-level security
Experience designing a governance model
Expert-level data modeling expertise, with defensible positions on test strategy, incremental model semantics, and when a model should not exist
Track record of driving adoption of a standard, tool, or platform
Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
Comfort working in ambiguous, high-impact environments with broad scope and autonomy
