About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Establish overall business or technical strategy for risk management with significant impact on operations
Influence executive-level decision-making through strategic risk assessments and recommendations
Partner with stakeholders to implement strategies that reduce or transfer identified risks
Monitor and analyze risk exposure to ensure alignment with organizational objectives
Lead initiatives contributing to long-term sustainability and resilience
Lead the first line of defense control testing function while monitoring risk exposure and control effectiveness
Direct risk-based testing of control design and operating effectiveness across the business control environment
Lead annual planning, scoping, and coverage decisions
Serve as primary point of contact to second line Risk and Compliance, Internal Audit, and regulators on first line testing activity
Support reliance discussions and examinations

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience building or materially scaling a control testing function, ideally within a regulated financial institution’s first line of defense
Deep working knowledge of the three lines of defense model
Practical understanding of the distinctions between 1LOD testing, 2LOD independent testing, and Internal Audit
