About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, reliable, and performant data infrastructure for Venmo products, analytics, and infrastructure teams
Automate provisioning, management, and monitoring of supported data infrastructure
Build and implement scalable, reliable data pipeline architecture to optimize performance
Build tools that help users leverage data for actionable insights, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business performance
Build and implement message-streaming solutions for Venmo applications using AWS SQS and Apache Kafka
Partner with development, platform, infrastructure, Executive, Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams
Analyze and resolve complex customer and performance issues at scale
Process, extract, and manage relational databases and NoSQL systems using SQL and query authoring
Create large, complex datasets meeting functional and non-functional business requirements
Collaborate with teammates on planning and executing initiatives
Implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle under guidance from experienced staff
Contribute to code and design reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s and/or master’s in computer science or related field of study
3+ years’ experience in software development or a related field
3+ years’ experience operating global-scale, high-throughput AWS-native data pipelines
Hands-on experience designing and implementing infrastructure for global-scale services
Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud-provider IaaS and PaaS solutions
Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
Programming and scripting experience with Python, Java, and Lambda
Experience with AWS S3, AWS DMS, AWS EKS, Apache Spark, and AWS Glue
Experience operating and maintaining AWS SQS and Apache Kafka
Ability to troubleshoot problems
Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences
AWS Solutions Architect is a plus
3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
