About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead preparation and review of PayPal’s SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
Drive the financial statement filing process and reporting timeline
Partner with Controllership, Tax, FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations, and other functions
Prepare Disclosure Committee, Audit Committee, and other executive-level materials
Identify and deliver reporting-process improvements, including process automation
Partner with PayPal business leaders and the wider finance organization on accounting and reporting matters
Drive accounting support within finance transformation programs and process enhancements
Provide accounting expertise and leadership to finance and business organizations
Consult with business partners regarding significant transactions and potential accounting impacts

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
Active CPA preferred
Big 4 public accounting foundation combined with external reporting and accounting policy experience at a large public company
Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K for a large accelerated filer
Experience with financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, disclosure checklists, tie-outs, and Inline XBRL tagging
Experience designing, documenting, and operating SOX internal controls and disclosure controls
Experience preparing or reviewing proxy statement financial disclosures
Experience supporting earnings releases and investor materials
Project management experience coordinating reporting deliverables across multiple functions
Ability to partner and influence cross-functionally
Deep knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, including Regulation S-X, Regulation S-K, SAB Topics, and staff C&DIs
Technical knowledge of US GAAP topics including ASC 606, ASC 326, ASC 860, ASC 810, ASC 805, ASC 321/323, ASC 718, ASC 260, ASC 815, and ASC 280
Ability to research and interpret accounting and disclosure guidance and apply professional judgment
Experience assessing and implementing new accounting standards and SEC rules across a multinational organization
Experience with non-GAAP financial measures, reconciliations, and reporting governance
Ability to assess and challenge disclosures and monitor FASB, SEC, and PCAOB developments
Experience preparing executive-level materials with strong presentation-building skills
Experience reviewing and mentoring less experienced team members
Experience improving or automating accounting and reporting processes, including AI-enabled workflows or disclosure management platforms; Workiva preferred
