About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Make technical decisions affecting multiple teams and organizational boundaries
- Establish conventions and processes for other employees
- Influence utilization of company resources and company effectiveness
- Handle multiple multi-team initiatives and prioritize competing issues
- Apply up-to-date industry capabilities and practices
- Communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences

- Partner with product management to develop solutions to business problems and goals
- Scale payment backend services and build new features
- Improve functionality, performance, reliability, and scalability of technology
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master’s in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years’ experience with Python or equivalent high-level programming language
- Advanced skills with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores
- Experience with caching solutions such as Redis, ElastiCache, and Hazelcast
- Experience with messaging/queuing systems such as SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Pulsar
- Ability to lead projects and mentor all levels of engineering staff
- Ability to manage relationships with Product, Engineering Operations, non-technical business, and support teams
- Expert knowledge of distributed services and backend systems
- Expertise building services on public cloud, preferably AWS
- Experience managing infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Experience with fault-tolerant and scalable distributed services and systems
- Past experience with Feed and Search
