About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead PayPal's global accounting and financial reporting organization
Own preparation, review, and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements
Manage quarterly and annual close and external reporting calendars
Coordinate with Legal, Investor Relations, and external auditors
Serve as primary liaison with external auditors
Maintain disclosure controls and support SOX/ICFR assessments
Partner with Investor Relations on earnings releases, earnings call materials, investor presentations, and non-GAAP reconciliations
Provide technical accounting and financial reporting expertise for investor and analyst inquiries
Support Board and Audit Committee materials
Set and maintain global technical accounting policies and procedures
Research and document accounting positions for complex and emerging transactions
Monitor FASB/IASB standards and lead implementation efforts
Provide accounting guidance and training globally
Own sustainability and ESG reporting, including data governance, controls, and disclosures
Partner with Legal, Risk, Sustainability, and Operations on ESG metrics
Build scalable sustainability-data controls comparable to financial reporting rigor
Oversee accounting for processing products and platforms, credit products, credit allowances/CECL reserving, and operating expenses
Support PayPal's US Bank information with accounting shared services
Oversee consolidated balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement preparation and review
Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across close and reporting
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing global accounting organization
Manage senior accounting leaders across functional areas

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Active CPA license
12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
Significant experience in public accounting; Big 4 preferred
Public company corporate accounting/reporting experience
Deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Experience with financial services, fintech, or payments industry accounting matters, including credit losses, CECL, and financial instruments
Experience partnering with Investor Relations and supporting external communications
Experience building or maturing ESG/sustainability reporting programs
Strong people leadership experience managing multiple accounting functions/teams, including global teams
Excellent communication skills and experience presenting to executive leadership, Audit Committee, and Board
Preferred: prior Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, or similar senior reporting leadership experience at a multi-billion dollar public company
Preferred: experience with ERP and reporting systems such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, or NetSuite
Preferred: experience with financial close/consolidation tools such as OneStream, BlackLine, or HFM
Preferred: MBA or advanced degree
Preferred: experience with international/multi-entity consolidations
Ability to shape accounting strategy and build organizations for future state
Ability to drive process improvements, build controls, and ensure consistency across large organizations
Deep expertise in GAAP, SEC reporting, revenue recognition, consolidations, and complex accounting standards
Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain talent
Clear communication of complex accounting topics to non-finance audiences
Comfort presenting to executive leadership
Solutions-oriented problem-solving ability
