About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate on designing and implementing employee strategies, policies, and programs aligned with organizational goals and values
- Lead and manage HR Specialists
- Participate in regional leadership meetings and advise RDOs, AVPs, and GMs within the assigned region
- Address employee grievances, complaints, and concerns and ensure timely resolution
- Conduct thorough and impartial employee complaint investigations
- Advise and train managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, culture development, and organizational effectiveness
- Identify potential employee relations issues and develop prevention or mitigation strategies
- Facilitate and participate in employee training, development programs, workshops, and meetings
- Identify high performers and partner with operations leadership to develop team members
- Develop culture initiatives, address supervisor and associate relations challenges, and create additional training as needed
- Frequently visit hotels to address grievances and conduct investigations
- Monitor industry trends and best practices
- Conduct manager touch points and provide insights on positive employee relations and union avoidance
- Develop and share turnover and retention reporting metrics
- Use HR data to identify improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support audit responses and employment inquiries
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Hospitality preferred
- PHR/ SPHR/ SHRM-CP/ SHRM-SCP preferred
- Experience in the hospitality or other industry with large hourly employee population required
- Currently reside in California
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Thorough understanding of California and federal laws concerning labor relations
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
- Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
- Ability to travel to hotels
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
