About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate on design and implement employee strategies, policies, and programs aligned with organizational goals and values
  • Lead and manage HR Specialists
  • Participate in regional leadership meetings and advise RDOs, AVPs, and GMs
  • Address employee grievances, complaints, and concerns
  • Conduct thorough and impartial employee complaint investigations
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and organizational effectiveness
  • Identify and mitigate potential employee relations issues
  • Facilitate employee training and development programs, workshops, and meetings
  • Identify high performers and partner with operations leadership to develop team members
  • Develop culture initiatives, supervisor support strategies, and additional training
  • Frequently visit hotels to address grievances and conduct investigations
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices
  • Conduct management touch points and provide insight on employee relations and union avoidance
  • Develop and share turnover and retention reporting metrics
  • Use HR data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support responses to employment audits and other inquiries

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Hospitality preferred
  • PHR/ SPHR/ SHRM-CP/ SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Experience in the hospitality or other industry with large hourly employee population required
  • Currently reside in California
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of California and federal laws concerning labor relations
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
  • Ability to travel to hotels
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
