About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and coordinate delivery of Pearson's Observability Engineering roadmap
- Drive observability initiatives from planning through implementation and operational adoption
- Coordinate application and platform onboarding into enterprise observability capabilities
- Track monitoring, telemetry, alerting, dashboards and operational-visibility initiatives
- Drive establishment, onboarding and evolution of the Command Center/NOC operating model
- Coordinate delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, risks and readiness activities
- Establish operational handoffs among the NOC, Observability Engineering, SRE, platform, product/application and incident-management teams
- Coordinate runbooks, escalation paths, operational procedures and onboarding documentation
- Independently own complex delivery across interconnected workstreams
- Develop integrated delivery plans and manage milestones, dependencies, critical paths, risks, scope and priorities
- Maintain RAID logs, delivery dashboards and governance artifacts
- Coordinate service onboarding into Observability Engineering and the Command Center/NOC
- Coordinate operational handover into BAU processes
- Establish delivery governance, roadmap status reporting, health reviews and stakeholder checkpoints
- Provide concise reporting to Platform Engineering and technology leadership
- Act as a central coordination point across Observability Engineering, SRE, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, application/product engineering, service management, incident management, security, leadership and strategic partners
- Coordinate vendor and partner delivery commitments, dependencies, scope and operational readiness
- Define and track operational-readiness requirements and coordinate readiness reviews before BAU support
- Identify operational gaps, drive corrective actions and feed lessons learned into delivery improvement
- Mentor less-experienced delivery practitioners and improve delivery processes and operating practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience in technology delivery, technical project/program management or a related technology-delivery discipline
- Experience independently managing complex technology initiatives involving multiple workstreams and cross-functional dependencies
- Strong understanding of modern technology operations, cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE or observability environments
- Strong delivery planning, risk management, dependency management and stakeholder-management capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical initiatives into structured delivery plans
- Experience operating in large enterprise technology environments
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong executive and technical communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes without direct authority
- Preferred: Experience delivering Observability, SRE, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering initiatives
- Preferred: Familiarity with metrics, logs, traces, APM, alerting, dashboards and operational telemetry
- Preferred: Exposure to New Relic, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk and OpenTelemetry
- Preferred: Experience working with Jira, Confluence or equivalent delivery-management platforms
- Preferred: Understanding of ITSM and incident-management practices
- Preferred: Experience working with enterprise technology partners or managed-service providers
- Preferred: Agile, Scrum, ITIL, PMP or equivalent certification/experience
