About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Typeset assessment materials in Adobe InDesign using approved templates and styles
- Work with traditional documents and structured sources such as XML and AsciiDoc
- Prepare PDF and, where required, HTML outputs through agreed production workflows
- Apply and check amendments through successive proofs
- Preserve question meaning, numbering, marks and instructions
- Follow accessibility and modified-paper requirements
- Create or adapt illustrations and graphics in Adobe Illustrator where needed
- Maintain accurate files, versions and Jira records
- Flag unclear instructions or missing assets early and provide clear handovers
- Identify recurring errors, unnecessary manual steps and automation opportunities
- Share process-improvement suggestions with colleagues to reduce avoidable rework
- Take responsibility for the quality and completeness of assigned work with guidance from a Technical Lead and scheduling support from a Production Coordinator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in publishing or editorial production, typesetting, prepress, technical documentation, document production or a comparable environment where accuracy and controlled processes matter
- Practical confidence with professional layout or document-production tools, including styles, templates and consistent formatting
- Careful eye for typography, layout and detail
- Experience interpreting mark-up, checking changes and managing document versions
- Ability to keep several assigned jobs moving to agreed deadlines
- Clear communication and ability to recognise when to ask for technical guidance
- Responsible approach to confidential material, established standards and feedback
- Curiosity about how content is structured and processed, and willingness to learn new tools and workflows
- Experience with InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator or Jira is valuable
- Familiarity with structured content, HTML/CSS or scripted content-processing tools is useful
- UK-based availability
