Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver timely quality-assurance reporting for assessment creation, marking quality, grading and awarding, post-results activity, and customer/competitor insights
Provide accurate and insightful analysis to Pearson School Qualifications stakeholders during live series and post-series activity
Interrogate assessment datasets to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities
Produce findings, root-cause hypotheses, and recommended actions
Maintain knowledge of assessment processes, products, and stakeholders to interpret data and anticipate operational impacts
Design, build, document, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs
Define metrics, assure data quality, and implement improvements based on user feedback
Capture business questions and reporting requirements and translate them into analytical approaches and fit-for-purpose outputs
Escalate risks and exceptions through governance routes, propose interventions, and track outcomes
Use Excel, SQL, Tableau, and other analytical tools to extract, transform, validate, and analyse complex datasets
Promote data literacy by guiding stakeholders on dashboards and metrics and supporting confident data-driven decision-making

Requirements

What you’ll need

Able to explore and analyse assessment datasets using appropriate analytical techniques to draw defensible conclusions
Able to define problems, form testable hypotheses, identify appropriate data, and validate results under time pressure
Able to translate analysis into clear narratives for non-technical audiences, including key messages, assumptions/limitations, and recommended actions
Able to apply robust validation and maintain high standards of accuracy, version control, and documentation
Advanced Excel
SQL, including BigQuery and MS SQL Server
Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Server
Able to gather requirements, agree definitions/metrics, and collaborate across teams to deliver to fixed assessment timelines
Working knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation and repeatable analysis and/or Alteryx for reproducible data workflows is desirable
Understanding of end-to-end assessment delivery and key quality measures is desirable
Practical experience handling confidential/personal data in line with policies and controls is desirable
Experience standardising data practices is desirable
Experience working in high-stakes and heavily regulated environments is desirable
