About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own Pearson's enterprise Product Design System, Nebula
  • Define enterprise Nebula strategy, vision, and multi-year platform direction
  • Lead a Pearson-wide product audit in Q4 2026 to assess product compatibility and migration readiness
  • Define the Nebula roadmap across business-unit migrations, Platinum DS integration, and Content/AI readiness
  • Own token, component, and theming architecture strategy
  • Embed WCAG 2.2 accessibility and usability standards at the component level
  • Own enterprise governance, adoption, and migration strategy across business units
  • Drive roadmap-committed business-unit migrations and prioritize high-frequency component migration
  • Direct adoption telemetry for adoption, reuse rates, avoided rebuilds, accessibility readiness, and rebrand propagation
  • Define AI acceleration strategy across the Nebula pipeline, including codemods, token audits, automated accessibility checks, and LLM evaluation
  • Establish prompt frameworks, generation guardrails, QA models, and human-in-the-loop validation
  • Partner with AI platform, data, and engineering leadership across Pearson
  • Own the executive investment narrative and report on payback, adoption, reuse rate, and benefits realization
  • Align Product, Engineering, Accessibility, Learning, AI, and Brand leadership on shared standards and sequencing
  • Manage and coach the Nebula team across product, design, and engineering disciplines
  • Ensure Design → Code → Content → AI pipeline alignment, including Figma/code parity and Storybook as the single source of truth
  • Upskill Brand, Product Design, Platform Engineering, and AI teams on scalable ways of working

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience leading enterprise design systems or comparable product/design technology platforms
  • Experience setting enterprise product and platform strategy across multiple business units
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams spanning product, design, and engineering
  • Knowledge of reusable components, semantic tokens, theming architecture, and adoption tooling
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility and usability standards
  • Experience with AI agents, orchestration, automation, codemods, token audits, automated accessibility checks, and LLM evaluation
  • Experience establishing prompt frameworks, generation guardrails, QA models, and human-in-the-loop validation
  • Ability to align Product, Engineering, Accessibility, Learning, AI, and Brand leadership
  • Ability to manage and coach specialized product, design, and engineering teams
  • Familiarity with Figma, code parity, Storybook, and designer-to-developer handoff practices
