About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports supporting school operations, student outcomes analysis, and enterprise reporting
Translate business needs into intuitive, actionable visualizations aligned with PVS reporting standards
Improve report performance, usability, and accessibility
Implement and maintain data security policies within reporting tools
Build and maintain governed, reusable Power BI semantic models
Apply star schema, DAX optimization, and row-level security
Partner with engineering to align data pipelines and the reporting layer
Validate data outputs and consistency between reports and source systems
Troubleshoot data discrepancies, refresh failures, and performance issues
Contribute to monitoring, testing, and documentation of reporting solutions
Implement and validate row-level security in a multi-tenant environment
Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine requirements and prioritize features
Participate in design discussions, backlog refinement, and peer reviews
Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and timelines
Develop scalable, reusable reporting assets aligned with the PVS data product strategy
Enable self-service analytics through documented datasets and consistent definitions
Improve deployment practices, governance, and lifecycle management

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of practical experience with Power BI, including report development, visualizations, DAX, Power Query, and semantic modeling
Familiarity with Tabular Editor 3, DAX Studio, or ALM Toolkit is helpful
Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, including star schema and fact/dimension design
Experience with SQL and structured datasets in data warehouses/lakehouses
Familiarity with data pipelines and integration concepts, such as Azure Data Factory and ETL/ELT patterns
Experience independently delivering reporting solutions from requirements through deployment and support
Ability to troubleshoot data, performance, and visualization issues
Experience improving data quality, reliability, and usability
Strong communication skills
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and business teams
Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing practices
3–5 years of experience in Power BI development, business intelligence, data analysis, or a related area
Experience building or supporting reports and dashboards used for operational or business decision-making
Experience working with evolving tools, architecture, and governance practices
Preferred: experience in education, EdTech, or multi-tenant data environments
Preferred: experience with Google BigQuery
Preferred: exposure to data governance, lineage, and semantic layer standardization
Preferred: experience supporting self-service analytics at scale
