Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct internal loss reserving to track and analyze trends, supporting financial stability and accurate forecasting
  • Perform detailed pricing analysis using advanced actuarial techniques
  • Improve rate-level and rating-variable determinations
  • Innovate indication methodologies and streamline process automation
  • Assist with sophisticated actuarial models using predictive modeling and statistical analysis
  • Support decision-making under actuarial management and product manager guidance
  • Participate with business partners in product decisions and analyze impacts
  • Prepare regulatory filings aligned with company objectives and compliance standards
  • Provide feedback on the annual forecast and communicate emerging trends and potential risks
  • Investigate and assess actuarial issues and trends
  • Consult on advanced mathematics, statistics, and modeling needs
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO policies, values, ethics, and business conduct
  • Support the PEMCO Brand and help attract top talent
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Resident and work from one of the following states: WA, OR, ID, OH, IL, TX, MN, NC, SC, or FL
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics or equivalent is required
  • 5 years of experience in property casualty actuary work, with a focus on rate-making and broad knowledge of personal lines
  • Strong technical aptitude and programming experience
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) is required
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex unstructured problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively
  • Skilled proficiency in MS Office; expert in Excel
  • Knowledge of Mathematics, Statistics, and Modeling
  • Strong software application and predictive modeling skills
  • Skilled proficiency with Python, R, SAS, and/or SQL
  • Experience with Radar, Emblem, or ResQ is advantageous
  • Ability to work with disparate datasets, integrate external vendor data, and build efficient, scalable infrastructure and data models
  • Thorough understanding of the insurance industry, business landscape, growth trends, and insurance environments
  • Occasional travel to headquarters in Seattle, WA
