About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and support PEMCO's network and connected infrastructure across data centers, WAN, wireless, and cloud
  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, data center core, wireless, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and cloud connectivity infrastructure
  • Manage life-cycle standards for infrastructure hardware and software
  • Learn and support technologies including F5 load balancers, Nutanix virtualization, and Veeam backup
  • Provide front-line network support and act as an escalation point for Service Desk and operations teams
  • Lead issue and problem resolution through root-cause analysis
  • Research and recommend innovative, automated administration approaches using scripting or infrastructure as code
  • Identify and implement system enhancements that improve performance and reliability
  • Document and implement design documents, runbooks, network diagrams, IP address records, configuration data, standards, and project deliverables
  • Create, implement, and support private and public cloud integrations, including Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, SaaS, and IaaS architectures
  • Serve as secondary engineer for virtualization and backup platforms, including restores and disaster recovery testing across both data centers
  • Perform hands-on data center work including racking, cabling, hardware replacement, and firmware upgrades
  • Apply network security standards including segmentation, access control, and hardening in partnership with Information Security
  • Participate in change, incident, and problem management
  • Lead infrastructure projects from design through handover
  • Coach and mentor members of the Infrastructure & Operations team
  • Work directly with vendors, integrators, and carriers
  • Act as lead subject matter expert for Cisco-based infrastructure and services, both internal and hosted
  • Act as subject matter expert for virtual networking infrastructure, including hardware and software-defined routing, switching, and firewall platforms
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO policies, values, code of ethics, and business conduct
  • Support the PEMCO brand and help identify top talent
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Resident and work from Washington state
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field is required
  • 5 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments, including Cisco routing, switching and firewalls, IPSec VPN, and ISE
  • 3 years of experience with virtualization platforms such as Nutanix AHV or VMware vSphere
  • 2 years of experience supporting enterprise load balancers; F5 preferred
  • 3 years of experience supporting private and public cloud integrations, including Azure, SaaS, and IaaS architectures
  • 2 years of experience supporting wireless networking platforms and integrations
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery platforms; Veeam preferred
  • 1 year of experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms, specifically troubleshooting on the network and infrastructure stack
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, Nutanix NCP, or Microsoft Azure AZ-700 are preferred
  • Skilled proficiency in Lucid or MS Visio
  • Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Advanced proficiency in network and infrastructure troubleshooting across packets, logs, configurations, and physical infrastructure
  • Advanced proficiency in network and infrastructure security
  • Skilled proficiency in scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, and Intune as they relate to network services
  • Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex unstructured problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively
  • Ability to travel occasionally to PEMCO headquarters in Seattle, Washington
