About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support pre- and post-award research and financial administration for individual investigators
  • Manage complex grants, including clinical research grants and program project grants with multiple sub-contracts
  • Work with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget development, pre-award requirements, and submissions
  • Monitor and review charges, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators
  • Consult with research faculty on sponsored project budgets and proposals
  • Review proposals for compliance with sponsor and University policies
  • Ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements are satisfied and Conflict of Interest statements are submitted when required
  • Provide accounting services, including budget reconciliation, payroll processing, effort reports, and financial reporting
  • Monitor grant expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and OMB Uniform Guidance
  • Participate in annual budget submission and financial analysis projects
  • Partner with, mentor, and train Grants Managers
  • Work with payroll coordinators, purchasing, and accounts payable to allocate expenses appropriately to grant funds
  • Meet monthly with investigators to review funds and research portfolios
  • Advise faculty on University policies and procedures
  • Manage post-award activity and resolve issues in accordance with University policy
  • Liaise across research departments
  • Guide faculty and staff on electronic submission of grant activities
  • Assist with preparation and submission of reports
  • Perform other assigned duties
  • Report to the Administrative and Financial Officer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required for Grants Manager A
  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required for Grants Manager B
  • Grants Manager B must work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including annual budget submission
  • Greater grants management experience for Grants Manager B, including contributions to financial analysis
  • Experience managing complex grants, including clinical research grants and program project grants with multiple sub-contracts
  • Knowledge of sponsor and University policies, Regulatory Affairs requirements, Conflict of Interest statements, and OMB Uniform Guidance
  • Ability to manage sponsored program funds from pre-award through post-award
  • Ability to monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines
  • Background checks may be required after a conditional job offer
