About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct clinical psychiatric services to students, including diagnostic evaluations and emergency consultations
- Initiate care as appropriate
- Provide medication management and maintenance care
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and trainees on assessment and treatment
- Provide formal and informal supervision of psychiatric nurse practitioner interns
- Provide rotating on-call coverage during the day and after hours
- Coordinate with campus partnership offices and resources to assist students in crisis
- Complete clinical notes and agency data collection
- Follow University and Student Health and Counseling policies and procedures
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Assist with hiring staff and selecting trainees as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry
- 3–5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Board certification in psychiatry
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Unrestricted federal DEA license
- Experience in psychiatric treatment of adolescent/young adult population preferred
- Experience with a college student population strongly preferred
- Experience with electronic health records desirable
- Experience providing crisis intervention, short-term counseling and referral services
- Experience conducting psychiatric evaluations and medication management
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
- Demonstrated ability to perform supervisory and administrative functions
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with mental health professionals as part of a treatment team
- Demonstrated ability to consult with university personnel and SHaC stakeholders regarding mental health issues
- Ability to assist in hiring staff and selecting trainees
- Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule
