About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own worldwide hosted, speaking, and sponsored events
- Set the events calendar and determine which events to run, speak at, or skip
- Produce launches, dinners, summits, and roadshows, including concept, programming, venue, vendors, and run of show
- Run the speaking program by selecting stages and preparing speakers
- Manage sponsorships, negotiate terms, design event footprints, and account for spend
- Run field events with Sales and ensure customer follow-up
- Collaborate with Brand and Creative to align events with Perplexity's product
- Lead the events team as both individual contributor and manager
- Build playbooks, event tiers, intake processes, vendor and agency relationships, and budgets
- Measure attendance, coverage, pipeline, signups, attribution, and brand sentiment
- Be on site for important events
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years producing events, including large hosted events, sponsorships, and field programs, ideally in-house at a technology company
- Has built or led an events team
- Has owned large budgets, agency relationships, and vendor contracts
- Has negotiated sponsorships
- Has run an executive speaking program, including selecting stages, preparing speakers, and managing the day
- Knowledge of production, including run of show, staging, AV, registration, staffing, security, and permits
- Experience building event attribution, tracking brand sentiment, and reporting event returns
- Ability to partner with Sales, Product, Comms, Brand, Finance, Legal, and executives
- Power user of AI tools
- Based in San Francisco or New York
- Willing to travel internationally
- Ability to come into the office four days per week
