About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support day-to-day U.S. multi-state semi-monthly payroll processing
  • Assist with international payroll cycles across approximately 16 countries using primarily Rippling
  • Run the monthly global contractor payroll cycle, including timecard tracking, manager approval follow-up, and contractor payments
  • Reconcile benefit deductions, 401(k) deferrals, employer match, payroll journals, and deduction exports
  • Support state-level employer tax account registration and maintenance, including SUI and withholding accounts
  • Assist with 401(k) and benefits administration, HCE and nondiscrimination testing, and COBRA offboarding notices
  • Support equity and stock-exercise payroll reporting using Carta data and correct NSO/ISO tax treatment
  • Manage the Rippling-to-NetSuite reimbursement approval chain
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and escalate complex cases
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support quarter-end and year-end close, including W-2s, ACA reporting, 401(k) true-ups, and year-end reconciliations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual work and strengthen controls
  • Partner with the Payroll Manager, People Operations, Accounting, Tax, and Equity teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience
  • Experience with multi-state U.S. payroll preferred
  • International or contractor payroll exposure is a plus
  • Experience establishing and managing U.S. state agency accounts, including SUI and withholding accounts
  • Strong knowledge of California wage statement requirements, meal and rest break premiums, final pay timing rules, and state-specific compliance
  • Experience with a modern payroll/HRIS platform such as Rippling, Workday, ADP, or Gusto; Rippling experience preferred
  • Experience reconciling benefits deductions, 401(k) match calculations, and payroll-to-GL tie-outs
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
  • Ability to work accurately with large datasets
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll tax compliance, including SUI, SIT, and federal and state withholding
  • Familiarity with RSU, NSO, and ISO taxation is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Clear communication skills for explaining payroll and benefits topics
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
