About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Negotiate pricing and rebate agreements with major vendors and contractors
  • Periodically adjust labor rates as necessary
  • Manage vendor and product improvement and change projects
  • Advise construction personnel regarding vendor and product issues
  • Liaise with vendors to resolve disputes and rectify issues
  • Establish pricing and costs for the Estimating Department
  • Facilitate setup of new subdivisions by setting labor rates and selecting vendors
  • Review pricing for accuracy
  • Compare and evaluate the market for new and potential contractors and vendors
  • Communicate with the Vice President and Senior Vice President of Purchasing, construction personnel, and other departments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Construction related field preferred
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in purchasing, operations or estimating
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of estimating and purchasing principles
  • Understanding of residential construction practices and materials
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Strong communication and time management
  • Availability to travel as needed in Houston and other Texas markets
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
