About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own, extend, and evolve Pfizer’s AI-first design system across human and agent surfaces
  • Deliver design standards as code, including tokens, patterns, and components shipped into the engineering build pipeline
  • Build accessibility into design standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA compliance
  • Track adoption in code, pattern usage, override rates, and exception requests; retire ineffective patterns
  • Connect design outcomes to KPIs including adoption, task success, trust, time-to-resolution, and first-pass compliance
  • Ship production design work using new AI tools and set the design bar for the team
  • Independently own end-to-end design execution for high-impact, ambiguous initiatives
  • Serve as design authority for Agentic AI experiences and own Conversational UX across chat and/or voice
  • Define assistant tone and voice, refusal patterns, transparency cues, explainability, edge cases, and failure modes in regulated contexts
  • Partner with AI, Data, Product, and Engineering teams on LLM-enabled products
  • Maintain excellence across interaction design, visual design, systems thinking, product thinking, and storytelling
  • Advise Product, Engineering, and executive stakeholders on design and AI concepts
  • Support product vision and roadmap prioritization, including evaluating capabilities to build, sequence, or sunset
  • Build, lead, and grow a high-performing experience design team
  • Own the team’s operating budget and staffing; partner with Finance on annual planning
  • Explore new design tools and methods and bring validated techniques into team practices
  • Manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously
  • Travel occasionally for workshops, team meetings, or stakeholder engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have a bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of progressive experience in Experience Design, UX, or Product Design, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-impact digital products and experiences in enterprise or highly matrixed environments OR a master's degree with at least 7 years of experience OR a PhD with 5+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring, developing, and leading high-performing design teams
  • Working fluency with front-end development principles, APIs, and design-token pipelines
  • Experience owning and evolving design systems and AI-first interaction patterns at scale
  • Deep expertise in AI-driven experience design, including hands-on experience designing Agentic AI workflows and Conversational UX (chat and/or voice)
  • Advanced understanding of AI system behavior, transparency cues, explainability patterns, refusal behaviors, safety guardrails, and responsible AI interaction models
  • Exceptional design judgment and craft excellence, producing end-to-end design work from problem framing through high-fidelity, interactive, and executive-ready prototypes
  • Outstanding executive communication and storytelling skills
  • Expertise in accessibility and inclusive design, with hands-on WCAG 2.1 AA compliance experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Robust portfolio demonstrating system-level thinking, AI-powered experiences, rapid prototyping, and design standards or components shipped as production code
  • Breadth of diverse leadership experiences, including influencing and collaborating with peers, developing and coaching others, and guiding colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and business impact
  • Strong digital literacy and an AI-first mental model
  • Ability to manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work across global time zones as needed
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • Must have permanent work authorization in the United States
