About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute policy and advocacy strategies advancing Pfizer's U.S. healthcare policy objectives
  • Lead drafting and submission of public comments responding to federal regulatory issuances
  • Review proposed legislation and regulations for impact and relevance
  • Develop amendments, alternative approaches, and advocacy materials including issue assessments, key messages, leave-behinds, and infographics
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic direction on emerging federal healthcare policy issues
  • Lead cross-functional workgroups assessing complex healthcare policy changes and financial implications
  • Monitor and analyze the healthcare policy landscape and communicate trends affecting patients and Pfizer medicines
  • Engage government bodies, regulatory agencies, industry organizations, trade associations, and other external stakeholders
  • Represent Pfizer on committees and working groups to advance policy positions
  • Collaborate with USPGR, commercial, market access, finance, regulatory, medical affairs, and other internal teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 8+ years working on federal healthcare policy and advocacy in government or relevant private sector experience; or master's degree with 7+ years' experience
  • Experience in U.S. government healthcare programs
  • Experience in policy analysis, research, and development
  • Experience implementing strategic and tactical plans
  • Proven track record of sharp strategic analysis and understanding, including incorporating policy into decision making for senior leadership
  • Demonstrated project management expertise and ability to manage multiple high-profile, complex workstreams simultaneously
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with CMS-specific drug coverage and payment systems (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid) preferred
  • Experience in a health-related federal administrative agency or Congressional legislative committee staff preferred
  • Experience working with academic experts, think-tanks, or healthcare policy or advocacy organizations preferred
  • Ability to understand and guide financial or quantitative analyses preferred
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and strong overall business communication skills preferred
  • Ability to travel based on business needs
  • Must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • Permanent work authorization in the United States required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available
