About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute policy and advocacy strategies to advance Pfizer’s U.S. healthcare policy objectives
  • Lead drafting and submission of public comments in response to federal regulatory issuances, including HHS and CMS actions
  • Review proposed legislation and regulations for impact and relevancy
  • Develop amendments, alternative approaches, and advocacy materials such as issue assessments, key messages, leave-behinds, and infographics
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic direction to USPGR on emerging federal healthcare policy issues
  • Initiate and independently lead internal, cross-functional workgroups to quantitatively assess complex healthcare policy changes and financial implications
  • Monitor and analyze the healthcare policy landscape to identify trends and developments affecting patients and Pfizer’s medicines
  • Engage government bodies, regulatory agencies, industry organizations, trade associations, and other external stakeholders
  • Represent Pfizer on committees and working groups to advance policy positions
  • Collaborate with US Policy & Government Relations, commercial business units, Global Hospital and Biosimilars, Federal Government Relations, Public Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and other internal partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of 8+ years working on federal healthcare policy and advocacy in government or relevant private sector experience; or master’s degree with 7+ years’ experience
  • Experience in U.S. government healthcare programs
  • Experience in policy analysis, research, and development
  • Experience in implementing strategic and tactical plans
  • Proven track record for sharp strategic analysis and understanding, including incorporating policy into decision making for senior leadership
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, with the ability to manage multiple high-profile, complex workstreams simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to accuracy and technical detail
  • Must be confident, decisive and adept at navigating a fast-paced and evolving environment with competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Must demonstrate excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in interpreting and distilling complex information
  • Experience with CMS-specific drug coverage and payment systems (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Experience in health-related federal administrative agency or on Congressional legislative committee staff
  • Experience working in or with academic experts, think-tanks, or healthcare policy or advocacy organizations
  • Ability to understand and guide financial or quantitative analyses
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and strong overall business communication skills
  • Ability to travel based on business needs
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • This position requires permanent work authorization in the United States
