About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set the technical direction, architecture, and delivery for Spark Pro’s desktop, web, and MCP developer surfaces
- Serve as the top technical authority across Mac, Windows, web, and MCP surfaces
- Lead engineering projects through their entire lifecycle and ensure alignment with architectural vision and best practices
- Maintain code quality and promote secure code hygiene
- Guide SaaS solution configuration for security and compliance
- Facilitate technical clarity among Enterprise Architects, Business Architects, vendors, and developers
- Translate between business stakeholders and technical engineers
- Align objectives, dependencies, and schedules across multiple teams
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers, security teams, digital operations, and support
- Discover, define, architect, deliver, and enable solutions supporting program OKRs
- Advocate best practices, new technologies, automation, and continuous improvement
- Foster a DevOps culture of shared responsibility and transparency
- Ensure privacy and security are integral to system design
- Participate in or lead code reviews
- Mentor and coach engineers, facilitate knowledge sharing, and support career development
- Act on Developer Experience survey findings to improve ease of delivery
- Lead through influence without direct reports and build consensus among independent contributors
- Respond to security incidents and lead troubleshooting during operational outages
- Drive system resilience and post-mortem analyses
Requirements
What you’ll need- Extensive experience in software engineering, with a focus on leading complex projects
- Deep technical expertise from a well-documented background as a senior-level engineer
- Broad technical knowledge across frontend, desktop, and backend systems; comfortable across the full stack while leaning primarily frontend
- Proven technical leadership and mentorship skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in a matrix environment with geographically distributed resources and senior non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects
- Deep understanding of software development methodologies and privacy and security by design
- Understanding of data handling implications, regulations, and best practices in the pharmaceutical industry
- Understanding of DevSecOps best practices
- Familiarity with policies, standards, systems, and organizations within the pharmaceutical industry
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8+ years' experience in frontend, desktop, or developer tooling engineering
- Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment
- Proven capability handling large-scale, enterprise software delivery in a global 24/7 environment
- Hands-on experience building and shipping developer-facing tools across more than one surface, ideally including Electron and Vue
- Understanding of CI/CD practices, RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and microservice patterns
- Experience with the Model Context Protocol or comparable programmatic interface standards for AI agents and scripts
- Experience with Agile team processes, including Scrum and Kanban
- Experience solving process problems in complex, new application development
- Experience estimating complex technical stories and breaking them down
- Strong written and spoken English with excellent asynchronous collaboration and communication
- Permanent work authorization in the United States
- Must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
