About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute Medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within the territory
- Maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer medicines
- Provide therapeutic area and product information to internal and external stakeholders
- Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and customer insights
- Contribute to Medical content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics
- Collaborate with headquarters Medical colleagues, Medical Information, and other Field Medical colleagues
- Deliver live and virtual presentations, written communications, and telephone or virtual conversations
- Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant topics
- Identify and engage priority customer segments in the assigned therapeutic area
- Respond to unsolicited medical requests from healthcare professionals in compliance with Pfizer guidelines
- Lead advisory boards with manager oversight
- Field inbound healthcare professional queries through the established triage process
- Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, including sites serving under-represented patient populations
- Provide Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process
- Cultivate research and therapeutic area expertise, including current congress data and disease-state literature
- Provide asset leadership and communicate study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation concepts
- Provide strong territory leadership
- Communicate with local Patient Advocacy Groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs
- Deliver insights on local patient organization structure, capabilities, and patient population needs
- Serve on Medical, therapeutic area, and asset cross-functional committees
- Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with clinical/professional associations and societies
- Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board leads, and study leads
- Participate in special projects
- Operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly to customer, headquarters, regional, and national scientific meetings
- Travel 60-80% of the time and occasionally work weekends
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a health science required
- PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience
- Currently reside in the territory: Southern California
- Subject matter expert recognized across internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage a significant volume of projects developed in a remote environment, prioritize, implement successfully, and exercise excellent judgment
- Ability to work within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to manage and lead change in an evolving external health care environment
- Change agility and adaptability to organizational change
- Ability to problem-solve and network enterprise wide
- Ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and record medical interactions
- Ability to operate a Pfizer company car
- Ability to regularly fly on airplanes
- Flexibility to travel 60-80% of time
- PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree highly preferred
- Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Previous Field Medical experience
- Clinical and technical skills
- Leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, conflict-management, coaching, and influencing capabilities
- Reasonable proximity to an airline hub city
- Ability to work occasional weekends
- Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
- Permanent work authorization in the United States required
- U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
