About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead one of Pfizer's technology pods of Forward Deployed Engineers
- Own the squad's charter, operating model, intake model, delivery approach, and performance
- Partner with senior business and Digital leaders to identify, frame, qualify, and prioritize opportunities
- Direct and personally contribute to rapid prototypes, proofs of concept, pilots, and minimum viable products
- Leverage AI-enabled engineering, reusable components, and Pfizer's eight Digital Core Platforms
- Lead, grow, and develop Forward Deployed Engineers, architects, designers, and delivery leads
- Deploy squad members into business and platform teams for high-priority initiatives
- Ensure solutions align with platform architecture, digital standards, and reuse expectations
- Manage hand-off of proven solutions into permanent platform or product ownership, or deliberate retirement
- Serve as senior point of contact for sponsoring executives and communicate progress, outcomes, and trade-offs
- Maintain quality, security, privacy, compliance, and responsible-AI standards
- Measure and report engagement impact and continuously improve delivery practices
- Manage the squad's operating budget, headcount, contractor and vendor spend, and cloud/tooling/platform costs
- Lead direct reports and blended squads through matrixed cross-functional programs
- Report to the VP, Strategic Tech and partner with senior technology, platform, product, security, privacy, quality, and compliance stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, with 12+ extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extensive experience leading technology delivery teams, including significant senior leadership experience within a large, complex, matrixed enterprise
- Demonstrated success personally delivering and directing complex, high-priority technology initiatives under aggressive timelines
- Experience with rapid prototypes, pilots, proofs of concept, and minimum viable products progressing to real adoption
- Proven people-leadership experience building, leading, and developing multi-disciplinary engineering and delivery teams
- Experience with forward deployed or embedded engineers working directly with business stakeholders
- Strong technical grounding in cloud, APIs, data, and AI/ML
- Exceptional communication, executive stakeholder management, and organizational skills
- Experience establishing or leading a rapid delivery, incubation, innovation, or dedicated tiger team function
- Experience delivering AI, agentic, or automation solutions at enterprise scale
- Fluency in Agile/Scrum, lean start-up, and design-thinking methods
- Experience operating in a highly regulated, global enterprise environment with complex compliance, privacy, security, and risk expectations
- Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
- U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available for this role now or in the future
- Requires permanent work authorization in the United States
