About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee contract manufacturers and partners supplying pharmaceutical products
- Manage business relations, operations, performance, and P&L for a portfolio of CMOs and partners primarily located in Japan
- Develop and execute manufacturing and supply plans to meet market demand and supply performance targets
- Lead Virtual Site Operations Teams and provide matrix leadership across Quality, supply chain, procurement, GTE, and other functions
- Manage global stakeholders, including product portfolio, brand supply, commercial, and PGS leadership
- Lead contract negotiations and external relationship management at CEO level
- Drive continuous improvement in product quality, EH&S, compliance, customer service, and cost
- Review and close supply-impacting deviations and investigations
- Oversee new product introductions, product changes, product enhancements, localization, and product transfers
- Address supply, quality, compliance, and cost issues using Operational Excellence tools and cross-functional resources
- Collaborate with EH&S on environmental, health, and safety compliance
- Communicate key product supply issues to stakeholders and leadership
- Partner with ES Quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, cGMPs, Pfizer Quality Standards, and SOPs
- Manage cost-reduction programs, including opportunity identification, financial validation, planning, and execution
- Identify new sourcing opportunities and strategic sourcing partners
- Ensure compliance with Pfizer anti-corruption policies and related legislation
- Support ES initiatives and lead portfolio projects involving serialization, business continuity, supplier network collaboration, and environmental sustainability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Economics, or Business
- Minimum 9 years of experience with an advanced degree in Pharmaceutical Operations, Global Technology, Engineering and Launch (GTEL), Supply Chain, or Quality Operations
- Experience in External Supply, Procurement, R&D, and/or Project Management highly desirable
- Written and spoken Japanese and English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in teams at all levels of management
- Well-developed interpersonal, leadership, integrity, team orientation, flexibility, and creativity skills
- Experience in projects requiring collaborative approaches
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to understand business issues and processes
- Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements
- MBA preferred
- Master’s degree coupled with significant pharmaceutical experience preferred
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices in drug product manufacturing operations preferred
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain discipline preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills for managing essential contracts and agreements preferred
- Ability to influence and drive teams toward division targets preferred
- High degree of adaptability and problem-solving skills in complex project environments preferred
- Experience using AI tools, including ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, preferred
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use, preferred
