About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide online clinical services to youth and young adults with, and affected by, mental health and substance use concerns
- Assess clients, determine referral needs, and provide online individual counselling, group and family interventions, and education
- Liaise with community resources and collaborate with community service providers and related disciplines
- Formulate and implement treatment plans and provide case consultation and follow-up support with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide therapeutic clinical counselling to clients, families, and groups
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments online or by phone
- Provide brief intervention, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, family work, education, and support using varied theoretical models
- Apply trauma-informed and culturally safe care principles
- Assess client needs, develop care options, facilitate community-service utilization, and provide referrals
- Deliver, develop, and coordinate online group intervention services
- Maintain clinical records and data in accordance with established standards and the Freedom of Information Act
- Participate in committees, case conferences, practice evaluation, quality improvement, and solution development
- Develop psychoeducational resources and coordinate seminars
- Support staff and physician education and training related to mental health and addiction
- Provide teaching and supervision to student interns
- Participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of Foundry Virtual Care services
- Report to the Clinical Coordinator, Virtual Clinic Services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's Degree in a relevant health-related discipline such as Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or Clinical Psychology from an accredited university
- Two (2) years' recent, related experience working with youth and young adults across the mental health and substance use continuum, including experience with interventions and evidence-based treatment modalities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Eligible for registration with affiliated professional body
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a rural or remote community supporting youth or young adults in mental health, substance use, or related field
- Valid driver's license required
- Knowledge of adolescent and young adult mental health and substance use issues, psychiatric diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment practices
- Knowledge of community response procedures, counselling principles, intervention techniques, and Systems Theory
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and statutory duties
- Ability to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments using mental health and substance use frameworks and tools
- Crisis intervention skills with adolescents and families, and therapeutic skills in individual, group, and family interventions
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of an interprofessional team in a multicultural environment
- Proficiency using personal computers, online service-delivery tools, word-processing software, and database-management applications
- Physical ability to travel to rural or remote communities by flight, ferry, and/or driving and work in different community spaces
