About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define the technical direction of financing products
- Guide architecture and contribute hands-on development across front-end applications, back-end services, data systems, and integrations
- Lead complex engineering initiatives from problem definition and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production validation
- Break substantial changes into achievable increments with clear outcomes and manageable risk
- Build financial workflows and journaled systems that preserve data accuracy, integrity, traceability, and auditability
- Assess existing systems and decide what to retain, modernize, or replace
- Use AI coding tools to investigate systems, explore solutions, implement changes, refactor code, and develop tests
- Review and validate AI-generated work for correctness, security, and maintainability
- Establish engineering practices that support team growth
- Collaborate with engineering, product, business leadership, sales teams, and the CEO
- Explain technical direction, risks, and tradeoffs to support informed decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years of software engineering experience using .NET, Java, or similar languages, including experience leading complex technical initiatives
- Demonstrated experience rebuilding or substantially modernizing an established production platform, including architectural decisions and transitioning existing customers, data, or business workflows
- Experience with both front-end and back-end product development, with depth in one or more areas
- Highly proficient in relational databases such as MS-SQL, Postgres, or MySQL
- Familiar with designing cloud-native solutions including deployment needs
- Experienced in software testing practices and validating complex business workflows
- Experience with C#, modern .NET, and PHP
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and React
- Experience with Azure and/or AWS
- Experience with MS-SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Cosmos
- Experience with agentic coding tools such as OpenAI Codex and Claude Code
- Experience with financial systems or systems requiring high data accuracy (bonus)
- Experience developing and operating software in a highly regulated environment (bonus)
- Experience with distributed messaging systems including RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, Kafka, or Apache Pulsar (bonus)
