About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide client care services delegated by the Occupational Therapist
- Assist with evaluation and development of rehabilitative plans of care and periodic reassessments
- Prepare clinical records, daily progress notes, and periodic summary reports
- Instruct clients and families in exercise programs, therapeutic self-care, creative activities, and use of self-help devices
- Identify possible ineffective drug therapy, adverse reactions, side effects, allergies, and contraindicated medication and report them to the OT
- Observe and record client activities, findings, treatment reactions, and condition changes; report to the OT and physician
- Consult with the OT regarding home visit outcomes and physical findings
- Instruct health team personnel and family members regarding occupational therapy activities
- Attend rehabilitation department staff meetings and case conferences
- Instruct clients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, splints, prosthetic devices, and orthotic devices
- Participate in discharge activities and assist with Occupational Therapy Discharge Summaries
- Confirm visit scheduling with the Supervisor/Director of Clinical Services
- Coordinate schedules to ensure timely reassessments and alert the office about due assessments or recertifications
- Perform other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the OT
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
- Current certification or license as required by state law
- Current BLS Certification
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of Home Health experience preferred
- Good verbal and written communication and organization skills
- Licensed driver with an automobile in good working order and insured according to organizational requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
