About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required documentation
  • Provide patients with orientation regarding program objectives, phase-system requirements, rules, regulations, sanctions, service hours, and patient rights
  • Assess and place patients according to treatment phases and applicable standards and policies
  • Keep patient files organized and updated
  • Counsel patients in crisis by identifying resources and coping abilities
  • Counsel patients who do not comply with program requirements and increase awareness of noncompliance consequences
  • Arrange referrals to community agencies and resources when appropriate
  • Perform treatment-plan reviews
  • Participate in case conferences and case reviews
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations regarding confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance-abuse counseling certification
  • Submit internal and external correspondence to the supervisor for review and approval
  • Secure necessary patient documentation
  • Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to the supervisor
  • Attend team meetings and complete required training courses on time
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Possess a license aligned with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) qualifications, or certification recognized by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs
  • Maintain compliance with continuing education hours and/or units (CEH or CEU) required by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and/or other regulatory agencies
  • Associate degree or better in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or a related field required
  • Prior substance abuse counseling experience preferred
  • Experience with dependency and/or medication-assisted treatment preferred
  • Preferred certifications/licenses include CATC IV, CATC III, CATC II, CATC I, LMFT, LPC, LCSW, SUDCC III-CS, SUDCC III, and SUDCC II
  • Full-time availability, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
