About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required documentation
  • Orient patients to program objectives, phase-system requirements, rules, regulations, sanctions, service hours, and patient rights
  • Assess patients and place them according to treatment phases and applicable standards
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date patient files
  • Counsel patients in crisis by identifying resources and coping abilities
  • Counsel patients who do not comply with program requirements and increase awareness of consequences
  • Arrange referrals to community agencies and resources
  • Perform treatment plan reviews
  • Participate in case conferences and case reviews
  • Develop knowledge of regulations regarding confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling certification
  • Submit correspondence to the supervisor for review and approval
  • Secure necessary patient documentation
  • Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to the supervisor
  • Attend team meetings and complete required training courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Possess a license in line with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) qualifications, or certification recognized by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs
  • Maintain compliance with continuing education hour/unit requirements (CEH or CEU)
  • Associate's degree or better in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related field
  • Prior substance abuse counseling experience preferred
  • Experience with dependency and/or medication-assisted treatment preferred
  • Preferred certifications/licenses include CATC IV, CATC III, CATC II, CATC I, LMFT, LPC, LCSW, SUDCC III-CS, SUDCC III, and SUDCC II
