About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish the strategy, charter and operating model for a new team responsible for two major platforms
- Lead Pinterest’s large-scale asynchronous job scheduling and execution platform
- Lead Pinterest’s anomaly detection, root-cause analysis and ML monitoring platform
- Lead the technical roadmap and evolution of both platforms
- Advance automation, self-service onboarding, resource efficiency and reliability
- Partner with teams across Pinterest to understand customer needs, drive adoption and deliver measurable improvements in developer productivity and data-driven decision-making
- Improve observability, incident response, service health, documentation and engineering practices
- Hire, coach and grow a high-performing team while establishing an inclusive culture of ownership, learning and continuous improvement
- Use AI for planning, technical exploration, documentation and operational analysis while verifying final outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 9 years of software engineering experience
- Minimum 2 years of engineering management experience leading platform and backend highly available engineering teams
- Deep expertise in distributed platforms
- Familiarity with backend systems and interest in algorithms in anomaly detection
- Strong technical foundation in platform reliability, observability, Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure, data systems and developer experience
- Understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous execution and workflow orchestration
- Passion for machine learning algorithms
- Experience setting technical strategy and delivering improvements to platform scalability, operational efficiency, customer adoption or engineering velocity
- Ability to lead work across platforms and collaborate with cross-functional partners
- Clear communication skills, strong technical judgment and people-focused leadership approach
- Experience using AI to accelerate engineering planning, analysis and execution, with validation of accuracy, quality and security
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
