Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect infrastructure powering Generative AI and Recommender Systems across Pinterest's product suite
  • Set the technical vision and roadmap for the Pinterest AI Platform
  • Align the platform roadmap with business priorities and long-term company strategy
  • Drive cross-functional strategic initiatives across Generative AI, Recommender Systems, and AI-powered tools
  • Advance multimodal data management, post-training, evaluation, batch/online inference, feature stores, training infrastructure, and high-performance inference
  • Connect every stage of the AI/ML lifecycle to enhance productivity and accelerate development
  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Provide candid, constructive feedback to support individual and team growth

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep expertise in AI/ML infrastructure and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating highly available, production-grade systems at large scale
  • Strong technical judgment
  • Proficiency in at least one of C++, Java, or Rust
  • Experience leading cross-organizational initiatives
  • Experience navigating ambiguity, defining technical strategy, influencing architecture decisions, and aligning cross-functional partners and executives
  • Strong ownership and a high engineering bar
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Must be based within a commutable distance of Palo Alto, CA or San Francisco, CA due to in-office collaboration 1–2 times per quarter
