About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and scale the foundation powering Pinterest’s stateful AI agents across monetization and advertiser platforms
- Architect, build and maintain durable execution platforms for crash-recoverable, stateful AI agent workflows
- Design standardized Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, SDKs and agent runtime interfaces
- Establish LLM observability, execution tracing, prompt versioning and token-based cost governance
- Drive technical strategy and write foundational design documents aligning infrastructure, security and product teams
- Use AI to accelerate design prototyping, documentation and code iteration while verifying correctness and quality
- Automate testing, evaluation and grader pipelines for agent skills and memory services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience
- Expertise in distributed systems, microservices and durable execution engines such as Restate, Temporal or Step Functions
- Hands-on experience with LLM agent frameworks and runtime internals, including LangGraph, DeepAgents or Claude Agent SDK
- Expertise setting technical direction for platform abstractions and driving cross-functional alignment
- Experience in service identity and multi-tenant security, including mTLS and SPIFFE
- Experience with LLM observability or cost governance frameworks
- Ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in day-to-day workflow
- Critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work, including testing, source-checking and peer code review
- High integrity, ownership and accountability for final decisions and deliverables
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience
- Must be based within commuting distance of the San Francisco or Palo Alto office
