About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead site diligence and permitting for renewable energy and energy storage facilities and other major capital development projects, primarily in Maryland and Virginia markets
  • Meet with landowners, manage lease terms, and amend leases for project development
  • Manage and lead creation and submission of permitting documents for energy/industrial facility development, expansion, and maintenance
  • Organize and maintain files, budgets, and project records using internal processes, databases, Procore, and Salesforce
  • Manage third-party consultants and contractors completing diligence items across a project portfolio
  • Manage work within quality, budget, schedule, and scope expectations
  • Attend community events and discuss solar with stakeholders
  • Participate in local policy working groups
  • Complete title curative items for project finance requirements with the legal team
  • Prepare project deliverables and collaborate with the Structured Finance team for financial closings
  • Evaluate site viability through site visits, desktop diligence, permitting analysis, and review of environmental, geotechnical, topographical, and grid-compatibility conditions
  • Assist the Director or Senior Director of Project Development with related tasks as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of experience in renewable energy development, or comparable professional experience
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills
  • Positive attitude to enhance the company’s reputation through interpersonal interactions
  • Comfort speaking in public while presenting Pivot project concepts to recommending and decision-making bodies
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex evaluation processes for a significant number of sites
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting, particularly preparation of applications and documents for renewable energy projects
  • Understanding of real estate title, LLCs, tax maps, deeds, and parcel identification
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, and ArcGIS
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to sites and permitting authorities
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, make own travel arrangements, and be self-reliant
  • Ability to anticipate project requirements and address long-lead-time items
  • Ability to multitask, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision
