About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist survivors with the immediate and long-term impact of victimization
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy, and accompaniment services to sexual assault survivors and crime victims in English and Spanish
  • Serve as designated campus advocate and advisor of choice during Title IX processes
  • Staff the 24-hour hotline and participate in mandatory after-hours on-call shifts
  • Develop case plans and ongoing advocacy strategies
  • Coordinate supportive activities, support groups, and crime victim compensation applications
  • Deliver prevention education and outreach to youth, adults, and professionals
  • Facilitate curricula and organize campus, school, health fair, and community events
  • Collect participant data and evaluation materials
  • Build relationships with agencies, organizations, campus offices, and community partners
  • Promote services and awareness initiatives, including Sexual Assault Awareness Month
  • Support program social media administration and promotion
  • Maintain certification through required continuing education
  • Maintain service data, case files, grant reports, and statistical reports
  • Review and update workshops and curricula
  • Provide office coverage, attend staff meetings, participate in program planning, and support community-agency relations
  • Recruit, train, support, coordinate, and evaluate volunteers for hotline coverage

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish
  • Education, lived experience, and/or professional experience related to advocacy, prevention, and community engagement
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities
  • Ability to work in community, external agencies & organizations
  • Flexible schedule; evening and/or weekend work is required
  • Ability to keep all client information confidential
  • Must understand and accept PPGNY’s Personnel Policies
  • Must follow all safety and security guidelines
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License with use of personal vehicle
  • Ability to travel
  • Superior public speaking and facilitation/teaching skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, or similar software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and client databases
  • Comfort using virtual tools for program delivery and community networking
  • Ability to work under deadlines and changing or competing priorities
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, independent decision-making, discretion, problem-solving, and critical thinking
  • Ability to document evidence-based clinical judgment
  • Commitment to violence prevention, sexual and reproductive health, LGBTQ+ rights and justice, accessibility, and racial equity
  • Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases, including influenza during flu season and COVID-19, and tuberculosis testing
