About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Commission, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and perform preventative maintenance on Plug Power products, including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary equipment
  • Travel to various customer sites, potentially up to 100% of the time
  • Execute and lead high-level service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure, including liquid tank and vacuum jacket line repairs
  • Provide training to first responders, customers, and Plug service personnel on hydrogen infrastructure troubleshooting, maintenance, and service
  • Support commissioning and ongoing maintenance and operation of industrial hydrogen infrastructure
  • Conduct point-to-point functionality testing and pressure testing of piping systems per ASME standards
  • Test and troubleshoot program issues with engineering assistance
  • Inspect process piping systems, including pressure ratings and fittings
  • Document system testing and commissioning results at project completion
  • Create, track, and close out project task lists
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to improve electrolyzer system designs and resolve defects
  • Interface with customer stakeholders and external vendors professionally
  • Share process improvement and cost-saving ideas with project team and management
  • Maintain safety focus and educate relevant parties on safe operation of hydrogen equipment and infrastructure
  • Represent Plug Power professionally and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in construction, repair, or maintenance in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field
  • Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, pressurized systems or other applicable field of study preferred
  • Or in lieu of a degree, 2 additional years of construction, repair, or maintenance experience in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field
  • Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 100%
  • Industrial gas or high-pressure systems experience highly preferred
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of skill with mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Ability to diagnose system failures and isolate root cause
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software for reporting and email correspondence
  • Ability to be on-call and respond to urgent needs
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems and performance
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical specifications
  • Ability to safely operate and control combustibles
  • Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision while achieving high quality results
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and meet project commitments/objectives without sacrificing workmanship or quality
