About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitate Plug Power’s GenFuel offering to customers, specializing in pre-construction execution.
- Optimize engineering workflows and build predictive permitting playbooks to reduce pre-construction duration.
- Improve accuracy of forecasted construction start dates for organizational planning and revenue projections.
- Manage the pre-construction phase, including third-party engineering, contractor bids, and the permitting lifecycle.
- Coordinate presentations and relationships with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to clear regulatory gateways.
- Follow up in person with local authorities and agencies to prevent project stalls and resolve misunderstandings.
- Develop and manage project schedules and budgetary parameters while resolving bottlenecks.
- Read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, identify missing components, and collaborate with suppliers and contractors on finalized products.
- Coordinate industrial gas companies, internal project teams, contractors, and local regulators during deployments.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of Plug Power products and hydrogen infrastructure systems.
- Communicate with internal project teams and end-customers to clarify expectations, manage risks, and meet commitments.
- Represent Plug Power during regulatory hearings and customer interactions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or other applicable field of study).
- A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in project-based engineering functions and construction project management, with a proven track record in pre-construction workflows and successfully securing complex building/environmental permits.
- PMP certification is highly preferred.
- Ability to travel frequently in the domestic U.S. to customer sites and jurisdictional offices; up to 100% of the time.
- Proven ability to interface with, present to, and influence AHJs (Fire Marshals, zoning boards, town councils) to secure approvals without project delays.
- Mechanical systems expertise and troubleshooting ability; ability to catch errors in engineering submittal packages before they are sent to regulators.
- Proven track record in project management; delivering quality results on time and on budget while compressing phase timelines.
- Experience in hydrogen and/or fuel cells, cryogenic industry, high pressure systems (250 Bar and up), gas processing and/or dispensing equipment, oil and gas/CNG/LNG, or logistics/material handling is highly valued.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Dynamic interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and regulatory stakeholders.
