About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct empirical research using customer, transactional, and economic datasets
  • Develop forecasting, predictive, behavioral, and balance-sheet models
  • Apply quantitative methods to deposit products and balance sheet management
  • Evaluate customer and product dynamics
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
  • Utilize financial analysis, research, and reporting to facilitate business strategy, process improvements, and remediation activities
  • Participate in stress testing efforts
  • Research and collect information for PNC's balance sheet
  • Analyze, review, and present risk analytics and stress-testing materials, documentation, and templates to senior team members
  • Partner with lines of business to understand specific line items of PNC's balance sheet and income statement
  • Reconcile and perform quality reviews of data
  • Work with model risk management, internal and external audit, and regulators
  • Manage risks in accordance with PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience in empirical research, econometrics, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or quantitative research
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience working with large structured datasets
  • Ability to independently formulate research questions, design analytical approaches, execute empirical studies, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • No employment visa sponsorship or STEM OPT participation
  • A comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • PhD preferred in a related quantitative field
  • Experience analyzing deposit, consumer banking, payments, lending, credit card, or other customer-level financial datasets preferred
  • Experience with customer behavior modeling, balance forecasting, causal inference, panel-data econometrics, time-series analysis, or machine learning techniques preferred
  • Research experience at a Federal Reserve Bank, U.S. Treasury, academic research institution, quantitative consulting firm, fintech, or financial services research team preferred
