About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, tune, and maintain security monitoring content, detections, and alerting within the Security Operations Center
  • Lead security improvement initiatives and projects that strengthen detection, response, and overall security capabilities
  • Create, maintain, and improve threat hunting procedures, playbooks, and operational documentation
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for SOC analysts, assisting with rule creation and providing investigative guidance
  • Ensure security operations and response activities align with regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements
  • Provide actionable guidance to address deficiencies
  • Mentor junior team members and lead learning sessions
  • Provide technical evaluation and analysis in a specific security area
  • Support activities, processes, and tools that improve the organization’s overall security posture
  • Apply security concepts, review information, execute defined tasks, analyze requirements, review logs, and create documentation
  • Perform investigations involving data loss prevention and data manipulation, and coordinate related activities
  • Address or mitigate risks and vulnerabilities
  • Review and define controls
  • Advise on complex security procedures and products for clients, security administrators, and network operations
  • Participate in enforcement of controls addressing security risks and threats
  • Share knowledge with staff
  • Conduct security assessments and information security routines
  • Investigate and recommend corrective actions for data security issues
  • Develop policies and procedures to standardize security functions and eliminate vulnerabilities and threats
  • Ensure business needs are met during development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University / college degree typically required
  • 5+ years of industry-relevant experience
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience, including military service, may be considered
  • Knowledge and skills in access control, building architecture, customer solutions, disaster recovery planning, forensic investigations, information security, network security, physical security, risk assessments, and security technologies
  • Competencies in analytical thinking, effective communications, information assurance, information security management, information security technologies, IT environment, IT standards/procedures/policies, IT systems management, problem solving, and software security assurance
  • No required certifications
  • No required licenses
  • No required or preferred language assessments
  • Must be able to work in an in-office environment
  • PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position
