About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, manage, and execute robust, holistic communications programs and external narratives
- Develop communications strategies, plans, research, and content for complex initiatives
- Provide strategic counsel and support to regional presidents, local leaders, business leadership, and internal partners
- Manage external communications including thought leadership content, social media, corporate announcements, speaking engagements, and public events
- Serve as primary media contact for assigned California markets
- Develop media relationships, place stories, draft and publish press releases and media briefings, create social media content, manage media inquiries, prepare spokespeople, and lead campaigns
- Support external responses to regional issues and media questions, serving as local spokesperson as needed
- Develop and write stories, op-eds, remarks, and talking points
- Leverage data and results to inform communications strategies and measure campaign effectiveness
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, finance, risk, agencies, third parties, and internal business partners
- Establish strategic direction for communications and prioritize team work
- Identify communication issues and opportunities and ensure strategic alignment, clarity, and accuracy of messaging
- Promote a high-performance culture focused on teamwork, trust, quality, continuous improvement, and learning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Typically 8+ years of industry-relevant experience
- Comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience, including military service, may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Knowledge and skills in branding, change management, creative process, design thinking, digital marketing, media relations, prioritization, strategic communication planning, and strategic planning
- Competencies in business acumen, collaborating, copywriting and editing, effective communications, effectiveness measurement, influencing, media channel management, organizational communications, organizational savvy and politics, tactical and strategic planning, and storytelling
- No required certifications
- No required licenses
- No required or preferred language assessments
