About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop enterprise automation solutions for database platform operations
- Build reusable automation frameworks and engineering patterns
- Eliminate manual operational processes through automation
- Develop automated validation, reporting, monitoring, compliance, and remediation capabilities
- Maintain code repositories, documentation, and automation standards
- Integrate automation with enterprise tooling, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
- Serve as a senior Oracle DBA
- Support Oracle RAC, ASM, Multitenant, RMAN, Data Guard, Fleet Patching and Provisioning, Enterprise Manager, Exadata, and Recovery Appliance technologies
- Design and automate database build, patching, cloning, migration, backup, recovery, and validation processes
- Troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues
- Expand automation across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and future database technologies
- Develop platform-agnostic engineering patterns
- Partner with database platform engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and standardize workflows
- Develop vulnerability remediation automation and automate compliance evidence collection and reporting
- Implement automated security validation and integrate with identity, access management, and privileged access systems
- Create dashboards, reporting solutions, and operational metrics
- Improve reliability and consistency, reduce toil, and simplify operations
- Provide technical mentorship and lead strategic automation initiatives
- Participate in backlog prioritization and delivery planning
- Influence engineering standards, best practices, and automation strategy
- Design, code, test, deploy, document, maintain, and debug software solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- University/college degree, typically a bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of relevant/direct industry experience
- Comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience, including military service, may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Database administration or database engineering experience
- Oracle DBA experience in large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, SQL and PL/SQL, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and multitenant architecture
- Automation development experience
- Advanced Python development skills
- Strong Linux shell scripting expertise
- Experience with Ansible or comparable automation frameworks
- Experience working with REST APIs
- Experience using Git or equivalent source control systems
- Strong Linux administration experience
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring solutions
- Experience supporting highly available production environments
- Ability to troubleshoot across operating system, database, network, and application layers
- Preferred: Exadata administration, OEM administration, Fleet Patching and Provisioning, database migration and modernization, CI/CD pipeline development, platform engineering, Agile delivery, enterprise reporting and operational dashboards, and multiple database technologies
- No required certifications or licenses
