About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and own Pod's data and analytics strategy aligned to commercial and operational priorities
- Participate in the extended leadership team and advise on data-driven decision-making
- Shape the roadmap for a shared, well-governed data capability with software engineering and architecture
- Own Pod's governed reporting layer and trusted business measures and definitions
- Set standards for data analyst practice and support analysts across functions
- Evaluate and introduce reporting, BI and analytics tools and platforms
- Own the use of AI and agents to query, explore and interpret governed data
- Lead dashboards, reporting and self-serve analytics
- Partner with commercial, operations, product and customer experience teams to turn questions into insight
- Establish governance standards for data quality, security, privacy and regulatory compliance
- Set data-quality standards for freshness and granularity and hold teams accountable
- Work with IT and security teams to keep data safe and compliant
- Build, lead and develop a small central Data & Analytics team
- Provide dotted-line direction to embedded data analysts and create a community of practice
- Mentor and raise data capability across the wider business
- Translate data into revenue growth, cost efficiency and better customer experience
- Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including the executive team
- Measure and report the impact of data initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience leading a data, analytics or business intelligence function, ideally within a fast-growing or scaling organisation
- Experience across data engineering, business intelligence and analytics
- Ability to provide direction on modern data architectures and connect insights to business action
- Experience building, developing and leading high-performing teams
- Ability to influence and guide colleagues outside the direct reporting line
- Experience working within a data mesh or domain-oriented operating model
- Understanding of balancing local data ownership with governance, standards and consistency
- Experience delivering practical AI applications for data access, exploration and interpretation
- Understanding of natural-language interfaces, agent-based experiences or semantic layers and their governance considerations
- Familiarity with data lakes, Parquet, Iceberg, ETL and ELT pipelines, multiple query engines and BI tools such as Power BI
- Experience across AWS, Azure and GCP
- Preference for open, flexible architectures over proprietary lock-in
- Track record of translating data into revenue growth, operational efficiency, improved customer experience or strategic decisions
- Ability to present complex information clearly to senior leaders and influence decision-making
- Legal right to work in the UK
