About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own Point Foundation's technology roadmap and strategy, translating organizational growth goals into systems and infrastructure plans
- Serve as the internal authority on technology decisions, investments, and implementations
- Evaluate the technology stack and sequence investments for organizational scale
- Manage the technology budget and allocate resources across vendors, licenses, staff, and projects
- Establish organization-wide standards for evaluating, procuring, and implementing technology
- Report technology performance, risk, and roadmap progress to senior leadership and the Board as needed
- Advise Program Operations and Development Operations on data governance, CRM strategy, and cybersecurity
- Establish organization-wide data standards across Program, Development, and Finance systems
- Set cybersecurity policy, including training, access management, and incident response
- Manage retained IT and technology vendor relationships, KPIs, RFPs, selections, and contract negotiations
- Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure and support, including cloud collaboration environments, hardware, access, and business continuity
- Evaluate the balance between in-house capability and external vendor support
- Lead AI integration, staff training, change management, usage policy, and risk guardrails
- Lead organizational change management for new systems and processes
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports
- Translate technical decisions into actionable terms for non-technical leaders
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8-10+ years in technology or systems leadership
- At least 3-5 years at a senior or director level owning technology strategy at a nonprofit or an organization going through significant growth or scaling
- Demonstrated project management experience running multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing timelines through to completion
- Vendor and contract management experience, including running RFP processes for technology consultants and vendors
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Blackbaud, or equivalent
- Experience with cloud collaboration environments such as Microsoft 365
- Hands-on experience evaluating and deploying AI tools in an organizational setting, including adoption, training, and risk
- Proven ability to lead technology strategy cross-functionally and translate technical decisions for non-technical department leaders
- Working knowledge of data governance and cybersecurity policy, standards, and practice
- Ability to manage internal staff and external vendors across a complex organization
- Intellectual curiosity and drive to stay current on best-in-class technology and systems practices
- Strong executive presence and verbal communication, including presenting to senior leadership and the Board
- Highly organized and deadline-driven, managing multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive organizational and constituent data
- Passion for Point's mission and enthusiasm about communicating the organization's philosophy, mission, and values
- Commitment to advancing equity and inclusion
- Preferred: experience with Claude or comparable AI platforms; enterprise-level software management and deployment experience; security certification such as CISSP or project management certification such as PMP
