About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and own the document ingestion and extraction pipeline for PDF and HTML inputs, text-layer and scanned documents, OCR fallback, and layout-aware parsing
Design the canonical output schema and extraction logic for heterogeneous source formats
Implement span grounding with verbatim source text and locators to the original source
Build an evaluation harness with a labeled golden set, per-field precision and recall, and regression testing
Calibrate confidence scoring and thresholds for automatic acceptance versus human review
Design and build human-in-the-loop review workflows with product and design partners
Own cost and latency per document through model tiering, caching, and batching
Instrument the system to surface silent failures and monitor production drift and regression
Partner with a domain expert to define taxonomy, adjudicate edge cases, and maintain labeling guidelines

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Master’s degree preferred
5+ years of hands-on experience with software engineering and ML/AI systems
Strong experience building and owning production ML/AI systems, ideally involving LLMs, NLP, or document/information extraction pipelines
Hands-on experience with OCR, layout-aware parsing, and heterogeneous document formats including PDF, HTML, and scanned images
Experience designing evaluation harnesses and using precision/recall or similar ML quality metrics
Experience building or closely partnering on human-in-the-loop review workflows
Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to own a production system end to end
Proven experience working with US-based business teams
Excellent written and communication skills in English
Must currently reside in or be located within 150 km of Greater Delhi NCR, Greater Bangalore, or Greater Pune
Quiet workspace
Internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
4 core US hours overlap from 7:30pm–11:30pm IST, plus 4 flexible IST hours
