About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute deliverables necessary to consummate transactions for middle-market technology clients, primarily domestic and cross-border M&A transactions
- Provide execution support for sell-side M&A, occasional buy-side mandates, growth equity, private placements and other financial advisory services
- Lead preparation of company valuations, financial models, marketing documents and client presentations
- Perform research and analyses supporting new business generation
- Create and present internal and external client deliverables
- Support creation of client marketing materials, including Teasers, Confidential Information Presentations and Management Presentations
- Aid management of and compliance with transaction-related administrative standard operating procedures
- Provide professional development coaching to junior team members
- Share and manage best practices and lead internal trainings
- Support business development, origination and relationship-building with founders, financial sponsors and strategic acquirors
- Maintain knowledge of technology-sector trends, financing activity and public and private market valuation benchmarks
- Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts
- Contribute to a high-performing and inclusive culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
- Located or willing to self-relocate to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia
- Willing to go into the local Portage Point office four days a week
- Willing to work at client sites as needed
- Seven plus years of experience working for a top-tier investment bank at the Associate or Vice President level is preferred, with direct experience advising technology, software or tech services companies strongly preferred
- Genuine interest in and knowledge of the tech sector including emerging trends across software, tech services and AI
- Strong financial modeling skills and an excellent grasp of corporate finance and valuation methodologies including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables, with fluency in tech-specific valuation frameworks (e.g. revenue and ARR based valuation, SaaS unit economics, retention metrics)
- Series 79 and 63 licensing preferred or the ability to obtain within 120 days of employment
- Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment
- High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, tech founders, private equity and growth equity firms, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers
- Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting
- Eagerness to be responsive at all times
- Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette
- Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail
