About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and coordinate operating unit business capture within the assigned geographic area
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop win strategies for business capture
  • Develop and execute targeted growth strategies across assigned market segments, customers, and strategic opportunities
  • Map key customers, programs, applications, competitors, and emerging opportunities to identify profitable growth areas
  • Translate market and customer intelligence into target account and program plans, capture strategies, and long-term growth initiatives
  • Engage customers and industry stakeholders to identify evolving requirements, technology trends, and unmet market needs
  • Communicate customer and market insights across the organization
  • Help shape product and technology roadmaps with Business Unit Managers, Engineering, and functional leaders
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans to win profitable new business
  • Research marketing intelligence and competitive data for targeted pursuits
  • Provide price-to-win and win-strategy inputs to engineering and sales staff for customer proposals
  • Provide voice-of-customer feedback to sales, engineering, and senior staff
  • Lead customer visits and research current and emerging customer needs
  • Utilize internal sales, marketing, and engineering resources in support of integrated business development strategies
  • Serve as capture lead through the Bid/No Bid decision process
  • Execute front-end business development
  • Participate in decisions regarding teaming and other pursuit agreements
  • Build long-term relationships with key decision makers at selected strategic accounts
  • Generate and maintain order forecasts for selected strategic accounts
  • Track opportunities from lead generation through negotiation and order booking
  • Communicate customer updates, identify hurdles, and assist Business Unit Managers in achieving business goals
  • Travel frequently to customer locations, up to 60%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • MBA a plus
  • 5–10 years of broad business knowledge with depth of expertise in sales within the aerospace and defense industry
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results meeting business goals while exceeding customer expectations
  • Excellent sales experience in aerospace and/or defense electronics
  • Previous sales experience in military electronics considered a plus
  • Good financial acumen
  • U.S. Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License
  • Ability to manage ambiguity
