About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and enhance secure Government-owned AI-enabled full-stack applications
- Build accessible front-end interfaces meeting Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 A and AA requirements
- Develop back-end APIs, services, and workflow automation
- Build LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, vector search, and agentic AI workflows using MCP-based tools
- Apply the government’s AI agent security framework, including OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications and NIST AI RMF
- Perform prompt engineering, retrieval quality controls, and human-in-the-loop oversight
- Plan and execute functional, performance, and AI-specific adversarial testing, including prompt injection and jailbreak testing
- Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, hallucination, bias, and safety
- Build and maintain CI/CD and MLOps pipelines with security scans and TEVV gates
- Prepare release artifacts
- Monitor production AI systems and perform root-cause analysis
- Support incident response and scheduled helpdesk support
- Contribute to Responsible AI documentation, including model cards and impact assessments
- Participate in two-week Agile sprints using Government-furnished AI engineering tools
- Participate in code and prompt reviews under security gates
- Maintain code, prompts, and documentation in Government-approved repositories with full traceability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience
- Equivalent experience may substitute for the degree
- 5+ years of hands-on full-stack software development spanning front-end and back-end technologies
- 1+ year of hands-on experience delivering Generative AI capabilities, such as LLM integration, RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, or AI workflow orchestration
- Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a modern front-end framework such as React or Angular
- Experience designing RESTful APIs
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience developing on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with automated testing and evaluating AI output quality for accuracy, relevance, and hallucination
- Experience with secure coding practices and federal security requirements
- Experience building interfaces conforming to Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 A and AA
- Experience working within Agile teams using Git and Jira
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
- Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
- Must be able to work on-site at Government offices
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable government background investigation
- Generative AI or Machine Learning certification, such as Microsoft Azure AI, AWS Generative AI/ML, Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake SnowPro, NVIDIA, or CAIP
- Preferred: 7+ years of software development experience, including support of federal agency programs
- Preferred: experience with agentic AI frameworks, MCP tooling, open-weight model serving, vector stores, prompt-injection security testing, and ATO documentation
- Preferred: knowledge of AWS Cloud AI development services, Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, and API Gateway
- Preferred: active or previously favorably adjudicated government background investigation
